Nigeria National League: Referee Banned for Rest of Season by NFF
The Nigeria Football Federation has imposed a season-long suspension on referee Terwase Chia following a disciplinary review related to a match in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
The decision was reached after the federation’s disciplinary committee examined events from the league game between Gombe United and Jigawa Golden Stars.
Officials said the referee’s behavior during the encounter was considered unprofessional, leading to his suspension for the remainder of the 2025/2026 NNL campaign.
Penalty for Gombe United
The disciplinary body also sanctioned Gombe United after supporters were reported to have entered the pitch area during the match.
Due to the breach of league regulations, the club has been ordered to pay a fine of N1 million.
Commitment to Fair Play
Football authorities in Nigeria say the sanctions are part of broader efforts to maintain discipline and protect the integrity of domestic competitions.
The federation continues to monitor match conduct closely across the Nigeria National League to ensure officials and clubs comply with league rules.
