Army, NDLEA Arrest Six Suspected Drug Peddlers During Katsina Raid

Troops of the Nigerian Army and operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested six suspected drug peddlers during a joint raid operation in Katsina State.

The operation was reportedly carried out in Kauyan Dawo community in Malumfashi Local Government Area following intelligence reports about suspected drug-related activities in the area.

According to security sources, the raid was conducted at about 5:30 p.m. on May 9, 2026, by troops of the 17 Brigade operating from the Forward Operating Base in Malumfashi.

Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed details of the operation in a post shared on X on Monday.

The joint security team reportedly stormed the community after receiving intelligence about illegal drug activities.

Drugs recovered during raid

Authorities said the operation led to the arrest of six suspects allegedly involved in drug peddling within the community.

Items recovered during the operation included 82.5 grams of cannabis sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5, and 1.8 grams of D5.

Military authorities confirmed that the suspects and the recovered substances had been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Authorities intensify crackdown on drug activities

Security agencies said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and criminal activities in communities across Katsina State.

The authorities also reiterated their commitment to strengthening collaboration between security agencies in tackling drug trafficking and other related crimes.

Recent security operations across northern states have focused on dismantling criminal networks linked to drug abuse, banditry, and other security threats.
