Mohbad: Court-Approved DNA Labs Refuse Paternity Test on Liam

Late singer Mohbad’s alleged son, Liam, may face delays in paternity testing after two court-authorized laboratories declined to carry out the test.

The refusal is part of a legal dispute between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and the singer’s widow, Wunmi.

Which Labs Refused the Test?

The Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, approved three labs for DNA testing:

  1. Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited, London, UK
  2. Alpha Bio Labs, Warrington, UK
  3. DNA Diagnostics Centre, Fairfield, Ohio, US

Both UK labs reported that they do not handle post-mortem testing on embalmed bodies, leaving only the US lab available.

Father’s Legal Team Responds

According to Oladayo Ogungbe, lawyer to Joseph Aloba, inquiries revealed that the UK labs cannot conduct the test due to technical limitations.

Why the Test Matters

Mohbad died in September 2023 under mysterious circumstances. His burial sparked public outrage, resulting in a seven-day exhumation. Joseph Aloba requested the DNA test to confirm the identity of his alleged grandson, Liam.
